If you have never played a 5 Star General series game, the interface is easy to figure out. You take control over the naval and land forces of the respective nations as you play through the campaigns or the various scenarios, which consist of key battles and a couple of what-if scenarios. and the Japanese during World War 2, both on land and out at sea. The game takes the best of the first four, Panzer General, Allied General, Fantasy General, and Star General, and combines them excellently.Īs its name implies, Pacific General is about the fight for the Pacific between the U. I think these games are well worth a go for people that enjoy deep strategy, and the hex based like Unity of was actually these games that got me interested in UoC in the first place.the only other hex based I have played was Civilisation.Īnyway, Im playing them on Fire HDX, and I wouldnt recommend playing on anything smaller (unless the buttons etc are scaled for smaller screens) but the menu and controls can be a bit fiddly and tiny even on that mid sixed Fire screen.but nothing that got really annoying.Pacific General is the fifth game in the line of 5 Star General games created by Strategic Simulations, Inc. Next one I own with all the DLC BUT I havent really played much, as its quite different from the ones above.'Modern Airpower'.I have a 7 hour Train ride over the weekend.Ill be playing this for most of it : D I dont think there is a DLC for this one yet (not on the Amazon Appstore anyway)
#Free panzer general game free
DLC is 'Quang Tri' -which is free and 'Mid East '67' which is superb)
My second favorite after Panzer Campaigns, another tank based one 'Modern Campaigns'. If that game appeals (and I really do recommend at least giving the free version a go), then I may as well link you to a couple of the other games of theirs Ive been playing (they dont seem to appear for me even if I search for their names on Amazon for some reason).they truly have become my travel entertainment of choice, if Im not reading the paper or a book.Ĭivil War Battles (also DLC Shiloh, Antietam) I wish there were more good American Civil War strategies. (and free for a fair amount of content.oh and they dont try and nickle and dime you with buying resources and things like that for real money.not at all). There is plenty of complexity and some decent Ai manouvers (not as effective Ai as UoC though in my opinion.) but it certainly doesnt have the excellent tooltip/tutorial suystem that Unity of Command has.you are dropped in at the deep end with a big learning curve ahead (well.if you are a hex startegy game noob like me : D) but its not as difficult to get started as Hearts of Iron 3, Id say.Īnyway, Just thought Id mention its existence in case people werent aware of an actually decent strategy game, available for your mobile/tablets. Things like Tunisia 43 and Bulge 44.Īs I said, I dont really play mobile games, but Panzer Cmpaigns has made several long journeys fly by for me while playing it. Once you have played that out, you can buy add on campaigns that are only a couple of quid each. Heres the link to the free 'Tutorial Campaign', which actually kept me busy for a good while on its own, having never really played this pure hex type strategy. Its a John Tiller game, whose name might mean something to strategy gamers of yesteryear, they were apparently quite highly regarded in the 90s or so. A bit off topic, but in case people arent aware of them, and as strategy fans may be interested, Ive been trying out a hex strategy on my Fire HDX.I dont normally give mobile 'apps' a look (except World of Goo xD) but this game 'Panzer Campaigns' caught my eye.
